Epoxy Flooring in Cape Town

Planning a new floor for your home, business or working premises? Explore high-gloss epoxy, marble-look finishes, flakes and slip-resistant options. We discuss how the space is used and the condition of the existing floor before agreeing on the system and quotation.

In short

Epoxy flooring is a resin coating applied over a prepared concrete floor to create a seamless, hard-wearing surface. We install high-gloss, marble-look, flake and slip-resistant epoxy for homes, businesses and working premises in Cape Town and the Western Cape. The system is agreed around how the space is used and the condition of the existing floor.

Options

Finishes and systems

Each option suits different spaces and appearances. Gloss level, decorative effect and slip resistance are separate considerations, not interchangeable.

High-gloss epoxy

A smooth, sealed surface with a reflective finish. Often chosen for showrooms, workshops, garages and areas where a bright, easy-to-clean floor is wanted.

Heavy-duty high-gloss epoxy

A build-up intended for working premises and areas with regular foot and vehicle traffic. The thickness and build-up are agreed around the actual use of the space.

Marble-look epoxy

A decorative, flowing pattern created within the resin while it is being applied. Each floor is laid by hand, so the patterning is unique to the space.

Epoxy with flakes

Coloured flakes broadcast into the coating to add texture and colour. Flake blends can help disguise everyday marks and dust in busier areas.

Slip-resistant epoxy

An epoxy finish with an added slip-resistant profile. The level of texture is discussed against the expected use. This describes the surface profile; it is not a guarantee of slip prevention in every condition.

Suited to

  • Showrooms, retail and hospitality spaces
  • Homes, entertainment areas and utility rooms
  • Storage, plant and back-of-house areas

Preparation

What we check first

Preparation is agreed before any finish is applied, because the result depends on the surface underneath.

  • The existing floor is checked for soundness, moisture and contamination before any coating is proposed.
  • Concrete is usually ground or prepared so the resin bonds to the surface rather than sitting on top of it.
  • Cracks, previously coated areas and uneven sections are discussed and quoted separately where they affect the system.
  • Curing and drying times between coats depend on the chosen product and site conditions, and are confirmed in the quotation.

Questions

Epoxy Flooring FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most about this service.

Which epoxy finish should I choose?
It depends on how the space is used and the look you want. High-gloss suits areas that need a bright, sealed surface; marble-look and flake finishes add pattern; slip-resistant epoxy adds a textured profile where a smoother surface is not suitable. We talk through the options against your space before quoting.
Can you coat an existing floor?
In many cases, yes, provided the existing surface is sound and can be prepared correctly. The condition is assessed first, because some coatings and damaged areas need to be treated before a new epoxy system is applied.
How is slip-resistant epoxy described?
Slip-resistant epoxy uses an added surface profile to give more grip than a smooth gloss finish. We describe it as a slip-resistant option rather than promising a specific safety outcome, because performance depends on the surface, wear and conditions.
Do you cover areas outside Cape Town?
We work across Cape Town and the Western Cape. Other South African locations are considered by arrangement, subject to the project and travel.
Can you work on existing floors?
In many cases, yes. The existing surface is assessed first, because the preparation needed and the finish that can be achieved depend on its condition. Some floors need repair or preparation before a new finish is applied.
