Service

Polyurethane Flooring in Cape Town

Tell us what your floor needs to handle. We install polyurethane screeds and roller coats selected around the space, its use and the agreed project requirements. Preparation and the proposed system are set out in the quotation.

In short

Polyurethane flooring covers resin-based screeds and roller-applied coats. It is chosen around the space, how it is used and the agreed project requirements. We install polyurethane screeds and roller coats in Cape Town and the Western Cape, and set out the preparation and proposed system in the quotation.

Options

Finishes and systems

Each option suits different spaces and appearances. Gloss level, decorative effect and slip resistance are separate considerations, not interchangeable.

Polyurethane screed

A trowel-applied resin screed that forms a thicker, seamless surface. Considered where the floor has to withstand heavier wear than a thin coating allows.

Polyurethane roller coat

A roller-applied coating system giving a continuous, sealed surface. Suited to areas where a consistent finish and straightforward cleaning are the priority.

Suited to

Where this is used

  • Food and beverage production areas where a cleanable surface is discussed
  • Workshops, plant rooms and back-of-house areas
  • Warehouses and storage areas with regular traffic
  • Commercial spaces where a durable seamless finish is wanted

Preparation

What we check first

Preparation is agreed before any finish is applied, because the result depends on the surface underneath.

  • The existing substrate is assessed for soundness, moisture and contamination before a system is proposed.
  • Surface preparation is agreed so the material bonds to the floor correctly.
  • Where a customer describes traffic, wet areas or chemical exposure, those details are recorded and considered in the proposed scope.
  • Drying and cure times between stages depend on the product and site conditions and are confirmed in the quotation.

Questions

Polyurethane Flooring FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most about this service.

Screed or roller coat: how do I choose?
A screed is generally the thicker option, considered where the floor takes heavier wear, while a roller coat gives a continuous sealed surface suited to lighter use. The right choice depends on the space, its traffic and the level of wear expected, which we discuss before quoting.
Do you claim specific chemical or heat resistance?
We do not make universal performance claims. Where a product's technical performance matters for your project, we rely on verified product information and set out what is confirmed for the selected system in the quotation.
Can polyurethane be laid over an existing floor?
Often it can, if the existing surface is sound and can be prepared correctly. The substrate is assessed first because unsuitable or damaged areas need to be addressed before a new system is applied.
Do you work outside the Western Cape?
Our primary coverage is Cape Town and the Western Cape. Projects elsewhere in South Africa are considered by arrangement, subject to the project.
